Target groups: Post qualified counsellors, psychotherapists, clinical psychologists, health care workers, social service personnel, who wish to develop their existing therapeutic skills in relationship counselling.
Proposed course content:
– Understanding the relationship 'fit'
– Applying systemic theories to couples
– Understanding the impact of life stages and attachment and loss issues on couples
– Understanding the impact of separation and divorce on the individual, couple and family.
– Understanding human sexuality.
– The practicalities, ethics and legalities of organisational settings.
– The reflective practitioner - producing a case study.
Proposed Duration: 60 guided learning hours and 40 hours of relevant clinical practice, logged and supervised, over a six month period.
